Squash: Ahmad of Pakistan in line for double in Qatar

Action from the Doha Junior Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha yesterday.  The semi-finals and finals of all the five age groups will be played today.


Doha:  Winner of the Qatar Junior Open Israr Ahmad of Pakistan reached the semi-finals of the  Doha Junior Open to keep himself in the hunt for a second title within a week. 
Yesterday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, the 18-year-old from Lahore defeated sixth seeded Mohammad Ali Farhat 11-4, 11-3, 11-3 to book a place in the last four stage of the tournament.
Ahmad will take on Umair Zaman of Qatar in today’s semi-final while in the second semi-final Abhay Singh of India will square to Sajad Zareian Jahromi of Iran.Zaman got the better of Lai Cheuk Nam Matthew in a five-game marathon. The home favourite kept his cool to win it at 12-10, 13-11, 2-11, 5-11, 11-8 against the xxx.
The Doha Junior Open is contested in five categories U19, 17, 15, 13 and 11.
Players from Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Singapore and Qatar are taking part in the tournament.
The semi-finals and finals of all the categories will be held today. The semi-finals will be held in the morning session and all the finals in the evening session. Matches in the morning session start at 10am and the evening session at 4.00pm.The Peninsula
