Doha, Qatar: Hamad Medical Corporation has announced a plan to start cancelling appointments of patients who missed their medical appointments twice in a row in an effort to preserve slots and reduce waiting time for other patients.
Nasser Al Naimi, the Deputy Chief of Quality for Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement and Director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, recently told Al-Sharq newspaper that the first stage of this plan will be implemented in evening clinics, and will later be applied in morning clinics.
Patients who missed their medical appointments twice in a row will be removed from the appointment list, and another schedule will not be set unless there is a new referral from a health center.
Al Naimi also stated that this is due to the 40% absenteeism rate in medical appointments rampant in the healthcare system which prevents other patients from getting appointment slots and leads to increased time-waste.
