QE Index soars over 500 points

Qatari stocks ended the week in a style with QE Index soaring over 500 points during the week. The stocks also registered strong gains during the intraday trade and breached 14,000 mark yesterday. The QE Index gained 213.55 points, or 1.54 percent, to close at 14,089.47 points, yesterday.

 This helped the index to register a weekly gain of 556 points as the QE Index had closed at 13533 points on previous Thursday.

This was the second day of straight solid gains as the QE Index had soared 206 points or 1.5 percent to close at 13,875 points on Wednesday. The index rose on the back of buying support from GCC and Foreign shareholders despite selling pressure from Qatari and Arab shareholders.

Dlala Brokerage & Investment Holding, Qatar International Islamic Bank and Qatar General Insurance & Reinsurance were among the top gainers in yesterday’s trade which increased 6 percent, 5 percent and 4 percent, respectively. It was a week when bullish sentiments overpowered bearish sentiments. Of the total five trading sessions during the week, the index registered positive gains in four trading session.

The indices of four sectors ended in green zone and three sectors ended red zone yesterday. QSE Total Return Index gained 1.54 percent 28,747.09, QSE Al Rayan Islamic index increased 0.83 percent to 5,686.32 points and QSE All Share Index up 1.71 percent 4,505.48 points. 

The volume of shares traded reached 365.13 million while the value of shares to QR1.17bn yesterday.

The market value of shares increased by the end of the week’s trading to reach QR789.65bn, compared to its level last week of QR760.8bn, registering a growth of 3.8 percent. The value of trading on shares this week amounted to QR4.6bn, distributed over 1.56 million shares, after 101,468 transactions were executed.

On Tuesday, the QE Index rose 0.8 percent to close at 13,669.9. The Industrials and Real Estate indices led the gains. The index had risen on the back of buying support from non-Qatari shareholders despite selling pressure from Qatari shareholders.

The QE Index had risen 0.4 percent to close at 13,563.9 on Monday. The Insurance and Real Estate indices led the gains. The index rose on the back of buying support from GCC and Foreign shareholders despite selling pressure from Qatari and Arab shareholders. The QE Index had declined 0.1 percent to close at 13,513.6 on Sunday. 

The Industrials and Transportation indices led the losses. The index fell on the back of selling pressure from Qatari shareholders despite buying support from GCC, Arab and Foreign shareholders.
