Al Emadi Hospital has announced the initiation of a comprehensive weight loss and anti-obesity program running from January 6 to April 6. This program encompasses a wide range of specialized services tailored to assist individuals in shedding excess weight and adopting healthier lifestyle patterns.

The program carries the slogan “Bigger by smaller” in reference to the reduction or enlargement of the stomach, which is the primary factor and cause of obesity or weight gain due to the quantities of food that reach it. The control of these quantities stands as the paramount factor in combating obesity. Al Emadi Hospital endeavors to assist individuals seeking to reduce their stomach size to achieve their ideal weight.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Emadi, Senior Consultant in Bariatric Surgery and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Emadi Medical Group, emphasized that the prevalence of obesity among various segments of society has compelled them to actively promote awareness regarding its potential dangers, along with the associated damages and numerous health issues.

He stressed that obesity is a severe medical condition that demands effective control, as it is linked to various diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, bone pain, and others. Dr. Mohammed Al-Emadi further clarified that Al Emadi Hospital holds a prominent position among specialized and renowned institutions in the State of Qatar for the comprehensive treatment of obesity.

He explained that the introduction of the new program by the hospital is a direct response to the ongoing and substantial rise in obesity rates within the community. This initiative is driven by the crucial need to bolster awareness campaigns, support preventive and treatment strategies for obesity, and motivate individuals grappling with obesity to seek proper healthcare. Dr. Mohammed Al-Emadi clarified that the services offered are part of a comprehensive program meticulously crafted to assist individuals in their weight loss journey and facilitate the adoption of a healthier lifestyle.

Dr. Al-Emadi highlighted that this initiative aims to encourage our community to embrace a healthy lifestyle, achieved through personalized plans crafted to cater to the unique needs of each individual. He clarified that the program integrates therapeutic nutrition, expertise in endocrine diseases and diabetes, psychiatric support, physical and sports therapy, along with interventions such as gastric balloon insertion, slimming needles, and obesity surgeries.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the hospital has played and continues to play a pivotal and impactful role in aiding the community in overcoming this perilous phenomenon. This support is extended through specialized clinics dedicated to obesity surgery, as well as nutrition clinics. These efforts, coupled with the Department of Bariatric Surgery, form a coordinated approach to combatting this prevalent issue.

Dr. Al-Emadi stressed that adopting a healthy lifestyle and overcoming obesity opens the door to numerous positive experiences, with impacts reaching various facets of life. This includes disease prevention, improved quality of sleep, heightened self-confidence, increased energy levels, improved mobility, positive mood and mental well-being, enhanced productivity, enriched social life, enjoyment of physical activity, and the potential for personal growth and development, among other benefits.

He added that from this standpoint, Al Emadi Hospital plays a vital and impactful role in assisting the community in overcoming this perilous phenomenon. This support is evident both in specialized clinics focusing on obesity surgery and in nutrition clinics, aligning with the Department of Bariatric Surgery to form a concerted effort to combat this issue effectively.

Dr. Al-Emadi provided insight into the hospital’s significant contributions, stating that they have successfully conducted over 13,000 surgeries to address obesity through procedures such as stomach reduction, bypass surgeries, and balloon installations. He highlighted the hospital’s commitment to employing cutting-edge technologies for these surgeries, positioning it as a pioneer in the field of obesity surgery in Qatar. The hospital stands out as one of the foremost centers specializing in obesity not only in Qatar but also in the broader region, earning a commendable reputation in this crucial medical domain.

He emphasized that the hospital has achieved a remarkably high success rate in obesity surgeries, attributing it to the utilization of state-of-the-art technologies operated by skilled and specialized teams. Dr. Al-Emadi clarified that complications related to obesity surgeries at the hospital are exceptionally rare and fall below international rates. This success is attributed to the incorporation of advanced staplers in gastric cut operations, effectively preventing leakage and promoting a faster recovery process, enabling patients to be discharged from the hospital at the earliest possible time.

He stressed that losing weight is the beginning of the road to a new healthy lifestyle, and a life full of health and activity, with the need and importance of exercising regularly to maintain the desired results.

Dr. Al-Emadi explained that the hospital works with a multidisciplinary team system in dealing with patients wishing to lose weight, where they are evaluated from all aspects, and conduct comprehensive medical examinations to determine the working status of all body functions in general before starting treatment.

He pointed out that this is done under the supervision of specialized consultants from different departments such as therapeutic nutrition, endocrinology, diabetes, psychiatry, bariatric surgery and endoscopy, pointing to the hospital’s track record in successful obesity surgeries.

For his part, Dr. Abdulelah Al-Adimi, Medical Director of Al-Emadi Hospital, Consultant of Nephrology and Urology, and member of the American Society of Urology and Nephrology, confirmed that the integrated program announced by Al-Emadi Hospital to help those wishing to get rid of obesity or lose weight comes within the framework of the social responsibility undertaken by the hospital in order to maintain public health in the country.

He added that the private medical sector facilities are considered the largest assistant to the government sector in providing medical care to patients, and from this point of view comes the hospital’s campaign to eliminate obesity. Keep your mind out of your weight, as all the necessary services are provided to get rid of excess weight, whether through therapeutic drugs, surgeries, balloon techniques, or through the therapeutic nutrition department
