Doha: As part of its efforts to develop its services provided to the public through electronic systems, the General Directorate of Traffic has launched a Claim Accident service on the Metrash2 app.
The new service allows users to register an accident report against an unknown person in cases of minor accidents through the Metrash2 mobile phone app. The new service has been developed in collaboration with the General Directorate of Information Systems of the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
“This service is one of the traffic investigation services that have been added recently. Now most traffic investigation services have been completed except for serious accidents service that requires the presence of police,” said Colonel Jaber Mohamed Rashid Odaiba, Assistant Director of the Media and Traffic Awareness Department.
“As for (reporting) minor accidents or self-inflicted accidents, these services are available on Metrash2,” he added.
Speaking to The Peninsula, he said, “Online transactions through Metrash2 have surged as COVID-19 forced people to use it, especially (to access) traffic services and other MoI services.”
Statistics released by the MoI recently showed that the number of Metrash2 users has exceeded two million since the launch of this application, while services provided since the beginning of the year have reached more than 5.5 million.
Since the beginning of this year, the Department launched a set of traffic services on the Metrash 2 application, including replacing vehicle plates and cancelling vehicles.
“You can complete many services provided by General Directorate of Traffic through Metrash2 app at your convenience, such as violation objection, replace lost or damaged license, minor accident reporting, issuance of a violation report, transfer or release mortgage, enquiry, and payment of fines and ownership transfer (significant or normal plates),” said the Department.
The General Directorate of Traffic has urged the public to avail various services through the Metrash2 app. More than 40 e-services were added to the Metrash2 application last year, and work is under way to develop existing services and add more.
App users must be at least 18 years old and have a valid ID. The mobile number used for registration on the app should also be registered in the person’s name.
All MoI e-services offered through Metrash2 are available in six languages, including Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Urdu, and Malayalam.
Metrash2 app provides these services to individuals, institutions, and companies. It is the fastest channel to complete transactions to pay service fees directly without the need to visit the Department headquarters, which saves time and effort.
