Doha: Al Wakra Public Library hosted yesterday a workshop titled “Children’s Literature Criteria for Selecting the Right Book” in cooperation with Qatar National Library.
The workshop was presented by the Senior Information Services Librarian Faten Azzam with the attendance of large number of children’s librarians, academics and children’s parents.
Director of Al Wakra Public Library Maryam Al Khater said that the library holds numerous useful events that contribute to upgrading reading skills.
She pointed out to the joint cooperation between the library and various agencies in several aspects, including holding training workshops and awareness sessions, in addition to participating in various events.
She said that the workshop that was held yesterday intended to introduce the methods of selecting suitable books for children, and its role in upgrading numerous skills, in addition to refining the children’s abilities and developmental characteristics and connecting them with books and activities.
Faten Azzam said that the workshop addressed several themes, including child literature, how to choose suitable books, focusing on the linguistic development in children.
It also addressed some of the problems and difficulties facing children’s librarians, academics and educators and developing appropriate solutions for them.
