To boost real estate sector, the Ministry of Municipality yesterday announced the launch of first edition of the Guide of Requirements and Services for the Building Permit System in Qatar 2022 and the third edition of Building Requirements Guide.
The Ministry is working to encourage investment in the real estate sector to participate in the process of urban development taking place in the country, through developing and upgrading the Guide of Planning and Design Regulations for Buildings in Qatar, which is an important reference document for real estate developers and consultancy firms operating in the country.
Director of the Building Permits Complex Department at the Ministry of Municipality, Eng Saad Abdul Karim Al Qahtani, said the launch of the first edition of the Guide to Requirements and Services for Building Permits in Qatar, and the issuance of the third edition of the Guide to Building Requirements for Qatar, comes following the directives of Minister of Municipality H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie.
The launch of the first edition of the Guide of Requirements and Services for the Building Permit System in Qatar 2022 aims to introduce the list of engineering documents and requirements, and the necessary permits from other service authorities when submitting building applications.
The third edition of the Building Requirements Guide was also issued after addition of a number of improvements and updates to be available in the buildings.
Al Qahtani said the move aims at updating the requirements of building permits to keep pace with the urban development in the country and to meet the needs of developers, engineering consultancy firms and those interested in the field of building and construction.
“To simplify procedures and clarify the requirements that must be met in building applications, the Ministry launched the first edition of the requirements and services guide for the building permits, which contains 403 pages divided into 5 chapters,” said Al Qahtani.
He said that this aims to clarify the list of documents, data, plans and engineering drawings that must be attached when submitting applications, in addition to the other service authorities required to obtain permits and approvals from them and the forms used by them, according to the types of buildings in the building applications submitted through the electronic building permit system.
“The guide also dealt with the types of buildings, whether they are residential, commercial, administrative, industrial or service buildings, their specifications, and the documents and data required for each building,” said Al Qahtani.
He said that the main reasons for rejecting building applications in the electronic building permit system were also mentioned in the guide. “The third edition of the requirements manual dealt with several improvements and updates to the design and planning requirements that must be provided in buildings,” Al Qahtani added.
“The introduction of the guide includes statement of the Minister of Municipality, in which he stressed the importance of encouraging investment in the real estate sector to participate in the process of urban and civilization renaissance that the country is witnessing through the guide of planning and design regulations for buildings in Qatar, which is an important reference document for real estate developers and consultancy firms operating in the country.”
He said the second edition of the Building Requirements Guide for Qatar, which was launched in November 2021, contained 2,127 pages divided into 47 chapters, and after updates and additions to the third edition, the manual contained 2,399 pages divided into 52 chapters.
“This guide which targets all those concerned with the construction sector includes all the planning, organisational and design requirements for buildings. It is one of the most important projects implemented by the Ministry within its strategic plan and Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Al Qahtani.
Both guides are available on the website of the Ministry of Municipality.
