Chess players from Asia, Africa and Europe took part in the tournament, joined by the officials of the International Chess Federation (ICF) and Qatar Chess Federation (QCF) President Mohammed Al Madahka.
The official match ball for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Al Rihla, was used during the event. Al Madahka also presented the ball to the Tamil Nadu State Sports Minister Thiru Siva V Meyyanathan prior to the kick off of the tournament. Meanwhile, ICF will hold its General Assembly today during which the body's election will be held. QCF will aim to retain the ICF's Board of Directors post during the election.
