Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is seen with international football star Mali’s Frederic Oumar Kanoute at QOC headquarters in Doha yesterday. Kanoute is a French-born Malian footballer who currently plays for Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan. Kanoute was named the 2007 African Footballer of the Year, the first player born outside Africa to win the award.
DOHA: Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Secretary General Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met yesterday international football star Frederic Oumar Kanoute who is currently in Doha on a business trip.
Sheikh Saoud expressed his appreciation for the player’s performances with his country and clubs as well as his humanitarian and charity efforts through the Kanoute Foundation.
For his part, Kanoute thanked Sheikh Saoud for the hospitality he received since his arrival in Doha, hailing the huge renaissance in Qatari sports on all fronts. QNA
