Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara on Wednesday evening held a distinguished celebration of the Garangao Night, as part of its Ramadan activities, and within the framework of its continuous endeavor to consolidate the customs associated with the authentic Qatari heritage.

The event also aimed to introduce to new generations the popular heritage and traditions inherited in the blessed month of Ramadan that enhance love, compassion, giving and familiarity in the hearts children.

Hundreds of families, citizens and residents, flocked to Katara after Iftar, which was decorated with a suit of bright and sparkling lights, to celebrate the heritage night that falls on the night of the half of the blessed Ramadan. Kids roamed the corridors of Katara, chanting with their sweet voices the famous Garangao song with its beautiful and joyful meanings and its melodious music.

On the other hand, Katara prepared a programme full of pleasant surprises, and a wonderful atmosphere, to celebrate this heritage night that instills happiness in the hearts of children. The celebration started from the Wisdom Square where a water show was held to the tunes of the famous traditional Garangao song. 

Many parents expressed their overwhelming happiness with Katara’s celebration of the Garangao night that rewards children for fasting on the first half of the blessed month and encourages them to complete fasting for the next half of the month. Parents said they appreciate Katara’s initiative in reviving the original ancestral heritage and the popular cultural heritage that spreads joy and love in the hearts of young and old, and enhances the continuity of communication between the past and the present.
