The 33rd GCC Traffic Week will kick off on Sunday evening at Darb Al Saai under the theme “Your Life is a Trust” to encourage people to take care of themselves on the road.
Major Jaber Mohamed Rashid Odaiba, Assistant Director of Media and Awareness, told The Peninsula that the Traffic Week logo for 2017-18 was designed by the General Directorate of Traffic department and approved by other GCC departments.
It features a heart which symbolises life. In the heart there lies a collage of various things like social media, speed, mobile. The environment at Darb Al Saai is suitable for all people, and there will be a playground for children.
“Last year, 60 government and non-government entities took part in the activities, but this year more will participate. New tents will be there for big companies like Qatar Rail and other companies with big projects”, said Al Odaiba.  “Also for the first time, a tent will be there for about 20 schools, to provide students awareness lectures about traffic safety, in addition to a tent for artists to paint about traffic problems people face on the streets ”, Odaiba added.
The activities will be held from 8am until noon and 4pm until 9pm, except on Friday and Saturday when they will continue until 10pm. GCC Traffic Week provides a direct awareness message to all road users about traffic accidents.
