Doha: A number of government and non-governmental entities are preparing by organising many activities to participate in National Sport Day 2019 which will be marked on February 12.
The National Sport Day 2019 coming this year after great victory achieved by the Qatari National Football Team in AFC Asian Cup. The Ministry of Municipality and Environment will organise a number of sports activities which aim to enhance the physical and psychological health of the participants.
“In preparation for the National Sport Day of the State, Al Dana Center for Girls in collaboration with Public Parks Department will organise a number of activities including fitness exercises and some competitions that include mental and physical games,” the Ministry said on its official twitter account. The Ministry will organize workshops and educational lectures to raise awareness about health and the importance of sports.
Qatar Foundation (QF) will be bustling with activities in this year’s National Sport Day at Education City. With several new items, an array of community-focused activities are designed to promote healthy lifestyles and social interaction.
QF’s Sport Day events and activities will take place at four locations of Education City Oxygen Park, the Ceremonial Court, the Ceremonial Green Spine, and Multaqa (Education City Student Center). The activities are supported by local and international partners.
“Sport has a special capacity to engage, inspire, and unite people, and this is the effect our National Sport Day activities at Qatar Foundation are intended to have on our community,” said Khalifa Essa Al Kubaisi, Media Relations Manager at QF, while speaking to the media yesterday.
“These inclusive, fun, and family-friendly activities are focused on providing people throughout the community of Qatar with opportunities for enjoyment, while also carrying an important message – that health and wellbeing, and social interaction, are cornerstones of both a happy and fulfilling life, and a strong and vibrant society.”
“Our National Sport Day 2019 celebrations at Education City reflect the openness of QF, and we look forward to welcoming people from across the community to experience and enjoy this special day in Qatar’s calendar with us,” he added. QF’s National Sport Day 2019 activities will run from 9am-6pm.
It will feature the Qatar Cyclists Tour, beginning at 10am at the Ceremonial Court and covering a route of approximately 20km to the Museum of Islamic Art and back to QF. It will be one of the main events and will include about 500 cyclists.
The QF Race, a test of speed, agility, stamina, and determination across an obstacle course of more than 2km in Oxygen Park, with 17 challenges to be overcome will also be held.
QF’s Shukran Cup, a competition that will see cricket and football finals being played at Education City by workers and it will symbolically applaud their efforts given.
At Education City’s Ceremonial Green Spine, the team from the Dogpound – one of New York City’s most high-profile gyms, will be hosting fitness sessions with professional trainers, and Qatar-based gym F45 will run high-intensity interval training sessions, two of which will be for ladies only.
Visitors can watch or join football activities organized by the Paris Saint-Germain Football Academy, and children will be able to enjoy the QF Mini Track, a smaller-scale obstacle course tailored for younger participants.
The Ceremonial Court will play host to a series of wellness sessions offered by Vishnu Yoga – which will also have dedicated yoga sessions for ladies at Multaqa. Spinning classes organized by Qatar Cyclists and RideTribe and a combination of boxing and fitness training will be provided by Beatbox.
Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Shell announced yesterday that they will jointly organize a set of family activities in the framework of their award-winning program “Koora Time”, on the occasion of the National Sport Day at Katara on Tuesday from 8am to 6pm.
The activities this year include a wide variety of football activities and sports practices suitable for all age groups in a friendly and fun-filled environment. Two football fields, one for children of 12 years or less, will host several sports competitions as well as six other football related activities.
Families will have the opportunity to participate in fitness exercises throughout the day, enhancing the healthy lifestyle of the entire family, and children will receive souvenirs. Koora Time is an award winning initiative launched by Qatar Shell in cooperation with Qatar Football Association, designed to improve the health and wellbeing of young people in Qatar through football, the most popular sport in the country.
Also, Aspire Zone Foundation has announced more than 27 sporting activities that will take place across several Aspire Zone and Aspire Dome sites in a unique collaboration between its Member Organisations.
