DOHA: Meeza, Qatar’s IT service providing company, signed a cloud service agreement with Symantec to offer market-leading hosted cloud solutions with an aim to take the current IT environment in Qatar and across the region to the next level, a statement said yesterday.

Under this joint offering, Meeza is working with a Tier-1 global client to offer Security-as-a-Service through Symantec.cloud E-mail Security on what, they said, is believed to be one of the largest cloud security deployments in the region. The initial stage of this project will provide e-mail security and monitoring services to protect more than 6,000 end users at the customer and is expected to be completed in the immediate future.

In addition to this, Meeza and Symantec are working together to launch hosted Backup-as-a-Service solutions to organizations in Qatar and the entire region that will be hosted within Meeza’s M-Vault 3 Data Centre.

These solutions will help businesses in Qatar better protect their information making their backups more secure within a hosted infrastructure in the country and providing customers with instant access and recovery of their information.

Commenting on the new agreement, Ghada P El Rassi (pictured), Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Meeza, said: “Meeza’s aim is to continuously enhance our standards and services delivery to our customers. Partnering with Symantec is an additional milestone to achieving this objective. We realise the responsibility of providing the latest solutions and technologies to Qatar and the region. Thus, this new agreement proves our dedication and commitment to fulfilling this responsibility. Symantec, together with the expertise Meeza is known for, will provide excellence in design and delivery of the new solution.”

The new solution will be available to industries and businesses of all size, from small and medium sized businesses to large enterprises with complex IT infrastructure. With these hosted services there is no hardware or software to purchase and maintain so business can quickly deploy the services to achieve immediate benefits that are easy to scale with the businesses need to protect and secure their information.

The managed IT solution that will be deployed within Meeza’s M-Vault 3 Data Centre allows clients to maintain administrative control over users, data, objects and resources, whilst allowing Meeza to maintain the required levels of security, availability and scalability across the network.

“We are delighted to partner with Meeza on this key project to offer Symantec.cloud hosted solutions in Qatar and through the wider region to help businesses achieve an essential goal – to secure and protect their information,” said Justin Doo, Cloud and Security Practices Director, MENA. “The investment from Meeza in a hosted Backup-as-a-Service solution through their data center in Qatar is a strategic step in ensuring business in Qatar and across the region can benefit from a scalable, secure and managed backup solution without putting pressure on their own resources,” he added.
