Hukoomi, Qatar’s official e-government portal, has witnessed a surge of 60 percent in the number of visitors accessing the portal in the first half of this year. Over 1.6 million users accessed Hukoomi portal in the first half of 2019 compared to 999,586 in the first six months of 2018.
The number of page views was far more than the number of visitors accessing the portal. The portal received over 8.68 million page views during the January-June period of the current year, according to the Hukoomi portal.
The robust rise in the visitors and page views reflects that a growing number of people are now using Hukoomi services and that the awareness about the services is increasing among the residents.
“The government is bringing more services online every year which is making life easier for residents as they have save time and efforts in availing these services,” a senior official of IT company told The Peninsula.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC), the number of e-government services has reached more than 2,700 digital services, under the Qatar Digital Government (QDG) 2020 programme.
The number of people availing e-services through Hukoomi portal is likely to increase further in coming days as the government is committed to bring more services online
The Ministry has already announced that all government services would be made available online by 2020, in order to provide public services efficiently and transparently and to build a knowledge-based economy
During the first six months of this year, January saw the highest turn out of visitors as 297,758 visits to the portal were registered. February was the second busiest month as 255,823 visitors accessed the portal during the month.
In a bid to realise the goals of Qatar National Vision of building a knowledge-based society, the Ministry has plans to make all its e-services available on its mobile application in the future.
