Doha: A video showing a large number of dead deer (fawn) in a Qatar farm has been shared on social media. According to accounts on Twitter, the dead deer were allegedly attacked by stray dogs.

Twitter handle QATARBIRDS2022, managed by an environmental activist in Qatar, posted multiple videos on Tuesday, April 5, and reported that dogs attacked a herd of deer in the Ghashamiya reserve, north of Qatar, and he claimed 40 deer died in total.

The Peninsula was not able to verify the exact number of dead fawn nor the reason for the same. The video showed workers loading the bodies of the dead fawn into a vehicle.

Another social media user suggested that the death could be due to fear as these were really young and the attack could have triggered stress, which sometimes proves fatal for some animal species.

Many citizens and residents reacted strongly to the post on Twitter, calling on authorities to solve the phenomenon of stray dogs, and one of them said: "In our area, we have been suffering from stray dogs for years and they have killed cattle and poultry, and it is dangerous to children, unfortunately, no response from the competent authority."

Another user said that in Al-Sailiya, at the central market, there are a large number of stray dogs that were reported more than once.

While the Ministry of Municipality’s account on Twitter responded to some users asking them to report the issue of stray dogs through the Aoun app and some complained that there is no reaction even after applying through the app.
