National Museum of Qatar invites families to attend activities throughout Ramadan

Doha: The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) invites members of the community to participate in a series of activities to celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan. Activities include:

Islam’s Influence on the Heritage, Culture and Architecture of Qatar
The Coming of Oil Gallery at NMoQ

Monday, 18 and 25 of April (Arabic) from 9:30pm to 10pm
Thursday, 21 and 28 of April (English) from 9:30pm to 10pm

Participants (aged 16 years of age and older) will learn about the impact that Islam's arrival in the Arabian peninsula has had on Qatari culture, traditions, and architectural elements, including the preparations and activities during religiously significant dates and celebrations. Family Saturday - “A Story of Qatari Coffee”
Learning Studio at NMoQ
Saturday, 23rd April from 9:30pm to 11pm

Celebrating Qatari culture, participants will be whisked on a journey to explore the rich history of Arabic coffee and how it was historically made, as well as the ritual behind serving Arabic coffee. At the end of the session, participants will enjoy decorating a custom coffee cup of their own. For more information email [email protected]  
Al Zubarah Qur’an Manuscript Tour and Workshop
Life on the Coast Gallery at NMoQ and Learning Studio
Thursday, 21 April from 9pm to 11pm

The Zubarah Qur'an is considered one of the world’s oldest Qur'anic manuscripts. In this special programme, participants will learn more about this rare manuscript. A calligrapher will then lead a workshop exploring the elaborate calligraphy and design of the Qur’an to be used as inspiration to help participants create personalised artworks. Webinar: New Crescent of Shawwal
Tuesday, 26 April from 10pm to 11pm
The beginning and ending of Hijri month are based upon the sighting of the crescent moon. This webinar will explore the various factors that effect visibility of the new crescent moon. For more information email [email protected]
