Many events to be held on Silk Road

Dr Sheikh Thani bin Ali bin Saoud Al Thani (pictured), Member of the Board of International Relations at Qatar International Center for Documentation and Arbitration has said that Silk Road Exhibition & One Belt, One Road Conference is a beginning of a slew of similar events which will be held regularly in the country. 

“Today a session was held on ‘Maritime Logistics’ in which we discussed the issues of logistics of marine transport, law regulating maritime implemented in Qatar with the participation of three specialists,” Dr Sheikh Thani bin Ali bin Saoud Al Thani told The Peninsula on the sidelines of the event yesterday at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).

He said that the panelists at the end of the session made a number of recommendations to Qatari legislators to upgrade the legislation which will help to keep pace with best practice of the world.

“Qatar is advancing fast as there are some State goals as Qatar is going to host the giant sport event 2022 FIFA World Cup, opening of second phase of Hamad Port and a number of other specific ports like Ras Laffan Port for transporting gas, Mesaieed Port for transporting petrochemical products and primary materials,” said Al Thani adding that Doha Port now became tourist port attracting tourist ships.

He said that these ports and other infrastructure development of the country would serve in attracting the investments which help to boost Qatari economy.
