Cruise ship Azamara Quest docks at Doha Port

DOHA: Doha Port, Qatar’s gateway to marine tourism, welcomed yesterday the cruise ship Azamara Quest with 650 passengers and around 400 crew member aboard on its tour in a number of gulf ports.

Azamara Quest’s visit marked its maiden call to the Qatar’s shores since the development of the marine tourism sector. It is the second cruise ship to anchor at Doha Port since the start of the season, which kicked off on October 2, 2018 and will run till May 2019.

The vessel is scheduled to stay on the quayside for a full day before continuing its tour to other tourist destinations in the region.

Hamad Ali Al Ansari, Manager of Public Relations and Communication at Mwani Qatar, emphasised the readiness of Doha Port to receive the large numbers of tourists expected to arrive at the port on board 42 cruise ships scheduled for the current season 2018/2019.

He pointed out that Mwani Qatar in accordance with Ministry of Transport and Communications’ strategic plan provides all the necessary facilities for the entry of cruise ships to the port starting from the arrival to the sea channel and ending with departure to ensure granting tourists with a smooth and distinctive travel experience at Doha Port, which strengthens Qatar’ status as an attractive tourism destination in the region.

“Joint efforts between Mwani Qatar and the stakeholders have played a major role in completing the successful anchoring of the vessel and contribute to complete the disembarking procedures for visitors in record time, reflecting port’s commitment to provide its visitors with high quality and efficiency services,” Al Ansari added.

With a maximum capacity of 780 passengers and a 410-member crew, the cruise ship Azamara Quest, began its first trip in 2000 under the name (R Seven).

It is currently owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, based in the United States of America. Measuring 118 metres in length and 9 floors high, Azamara Quest has a range of spacious staterooms or suites, swimming pools, cinema, library, and several restaurants. It is equipped with all the amenities and safety.
