Doha, Qatar: Al Rayyan and Al Arabi teams achieved victory over Al Sadd and Al Wakra respectively in the 2024-2025 season of the Qatar Basketball League games played on Monday at the Al Gharafa Hall as part of the 14th round of the competition.
In the opening game, the Al Rayyan team triumphed over Al Sadd with a score of 82-79. The match commenced with high energy from both sides, as Al Rayyan established dominance in the first quarter, largely due to the exceptional performance of Tyler James Lee Harris, who contributed significantly with numerous critical points. The first quarter concluded with Al Rayyan leading 26-14.
During the second quarter, Al Sadd made a concerted effort to close the gap, demonstrating a robust and effective performance that allowed them to narrow the score. This quarter ended with Al Rayyan still in the lead, albeit by a slim margin of 22-20.
As the third quarter began, the dynamics shifted in favor of Al Sadd, who regained their composure and gained a substantial advantage, outscoring Al Rayyan 23-9 and temporarily taking the lead.
However, Al Rayyan displayed remarkable determination in the final quarter, rallying to score 25 points compared to Al Sadd’s 22, ultimately securing the victory. Tyler James Lee Harris emerged as the standout player of the game, scoring 22 points and delivering a performance that was pivotal to his team’s success. Conversely, Jevon McCormick led Al Sadd in scoring with 21 points, which, unfortunately, was insufficient for his team to clinch the win.
With this victory, Al Rayyan increased their total to 26 points, solidifying its position at the top of the league standings, while Al Sadd fell to third place with 23 points, ensuring that the competition for the leading positions in the league remains intense.
In the other game of the night, Al Arabi achieved a significant victory over Al Wakrah, winning decisively 103-76.
Al Wakrah’s Sindo Ismail Diallo was the best scorer in the game with 31 points, while Elmedin Kikanovic was the best scorer for Al Arabi with 30 points.
With this victory, Al Arabi jumped to second place in the league with 23 points, equal to Al Sadd, but having played only 13 matches, compared to 14 matches for Al Sadd, while Al Wakrah remained in eighth place and the penultimate with 17 points, equal to Al Qatar Club and Al Gharafa, who are in sixth and seventh places.
