Doha: Qatar Charity is the first Arab and Islamic organization to complete its policies, procedures and operational systems in accordance with international standards in 2018, said Mohammed Ali Al Ghamdi, Assistant to Qatar Charity’s CEO in the governance and institutional development sector.

“As a Qatari organization, we are proud to be the first organization from Islamic world to make such an achievement. We will contribute to the development of other organizations in the Arab and Islamic region so that they could benefit from our efforts in this regard,” said Al Ghamdi.

“Today we have  60 policies with regard to humanitarian systems and this is a big leap for us as a Qatari organization,” he added.

Speaking to Qatar TV and responding to a question on Qatar Charity’s efforts inside Qatar, Al Ghamdi pointed out that the QC runs a lot of projects in Qatar either related to projects directed to workers, debtors, families with limited income, or families who face untoward incidents like fires etc.  “Our aid to people inside Qatar reached to QR100 million and about 1,000,000 people benefited from it,” he said.

Qatar Charity also supports cultural and social activities in Qatar. “Many institutions in Qatar have agreements with Qatar Charity and therefore we provide support to them so that they could extend their activities and thus QC plays a role in contributing to the success of these institutions,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Qatar Charity has announced that the relief projects for internally displaced persons (IDPs) inside Syria and refugees in neighbouring countries have reached nearly four million in 2018. It works in many countries around the world and has supported relief projects that include education, health and supporting low-income social groups.

Recently, QC joined the Somalia NGO Consortium and took part in the recent meeting of the consortium held in Mogadishu. The Consortium has currently 98 local and international humanitarian organisations as members.
