DOHA: The Qatar national team yesterday began their preparations for their FIFA 2014 World Cup qualifier against Lebanon on November 14.
Qatar coach, Paulo Autuori yesterday launched the proceedings with a detailed lecture inside the gym at state-of-the-art Aspire Academy where the national team usually camps for training purposes.
There were no absentees yesterday as the Qatar players assembled following the sixth round of action in the Qatar Stars League (QSL).
The sixth round of QSL action ended with Al Sadd’s win over Al Rayyan on Friday.
Team manager Abdulrehman Mahmood was also present at the team gathering inside the gym.
Last month, hosts Qatar lost their crucial Asian Zone qualifier against Uzbekistan at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Autuori must win this home match against Lebanon to increase their chances of reaching the next round of qualifying.
Qatar picked up their first points of the campaign beating Lebanon in their away game in June this year.
Striker Sebastian Soria scored in the 1-0 win with a well-taken goal.
A few days later, Qatar stunned hosts Iran with a brave show to walk off Azadi Stadium with a goalless draw.
The goalless draw came after a 4-1 thrashing by Korea Republic in Doha on June 8.
Qatar sit in fourth spot in Group A, three points behind leaders Korea and Iran.
The Asian Zone, Group A, clash will take place at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, kicking off at 5.45pm Doha time.
