New York: The Brooklyn Nets quickly settled a stunning coaching overhaul by hiring Lionel Hollins as their new head coach, the National Basketball Association team said on Wednesday.
Hollins, a former head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, takes over for Jason Kidd, who left Brooklyn to join the Milwaukee Bucks as head coach on Tuesday.
“We are very excited to welcome Lionel as the new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets,” Nets general manager Billy King said in a statement. “He is a proven winner who will provide the franchise with stability and leadership going forward.”
Former NBA point guard Hollins led the Grizzlies to three consecutive playoff appearances in his last three seasons with the team before the two sides decided to part ways.             REUTERS
