Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) organised yesterday the second forum to boost relations between media and humanitarian organisations at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).
The second forum for media and strengthening humanitarian works” held in collaboration with Al Jazeera Media Network under the pattern of Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities was attended by senior journalists and employees working with humanitarian sector. They discussed on how to strengthen relations between two key sectors of the community.
“The forum is held at a time when there is severe humanitarian crises in the region that required bigger role for the media and humanitarian organisations,” said Dr Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani, Chairman, Board of Trustees, and General Director, RAF, in his inaugural speech in the Forum.
“The Forum aims at strengthening relations between media and humanitarian works as RAF believes it is necessary to influence public opinion for humanitarian services.” “Now, the humanitarian organisations are shouldering big responsibilities that require supports of all social organisations to accomplish the mission of delivering humanitarian aid.”
We wanted to gather Arab elites working with humanitarian and media sectors to discuss the challenges and bring about appropriate solution in this regard. A charter of partnership between media and humanitarian organisations will come out by the end of the forum so they could work together in future in a better way.
The forum is a platform to bring the relations of media and humanitarian organisations to new heights so the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities is supporting this concrete step, said Ghanam Al Kubaisi, Head of the Office of Director General of the Authority.
The humanitarian and charity work is a natural act in our Islamic society but there is problem in the participation of society to the charity works, said Ayman Jaballah, Head of Al Jazeera Live.
The integration of media and humanitarian organisations is necessary to serve the community.
Dr Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani honoured 45 prominent Qatari journalists in the opening session of the forum.
The first session was attended by famous Qatari journalist, Jaber Al Harmi, Dr Ayad Nasr, Regional Director of the Office of the High Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs in the Middle East and North Africa, Ali Abu Al Nasr Al Rashid, Head of the media section at Qatar Charity and Tamir Al Mishal, from Al Jazeera Channel.
