DOHA: Monica Staab, representative of FIFA Development Office and a specialist on women’s soccer, visited the Qatar’s Women Sport Committee’s (QWSC) headquarters in Doha to talk about the development of women’s football in the country.
During her visit, Staab also held talks with QWSC officials to review a range of topics related to the women’s game in Qatar
Mariam Basheer, the Director of national teams affairs at the QWSC, received Staab and conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the QWSC President and members to Staab on her maiden visit to the country. Likewise, Staab appreciated ‘the intensive efforts made by the QWSC and Qatar Football Association (QFA) to promote women’s football in compliance with the strategies set out by FIFA’.
Staab gave a brief presentation on the FIFA guidelines for circulating women’s football worldwide over the upcoming years.
The QWSC organises a range of sporting activities and competition for female athletes in Qatar.
At the London 2012 Olympic Games, Qatar had four female athletes in their squad of 12.
