Qatar Charity signs deal with QSL; Lekhwiya, Al Gharafa in Cup clash

DOHA: Qatar Charity yesterday signed as business partner of Qatar Stars League (QSL).

As part of the agreement, volunteers will be trained and will work in a football stadium. Families with financial difficulties  will also be supported, by preparing and selling food at football matches, in which the families will benefit by the sale.

Donations from ticket sales of QSL matches will be donated to Qatar Charity.

Hani Taleb Balan, Deputy CEO of QSL said the agreement will help lay the foundations of social solidarity, which can highlight further benefits for what the sport can do for the community.

Volunteers will be trained at the academy of Lekhwiya and will vary as per the different projects. 

Abdulrahman Al Dosari, CCO of QSL said: “The aim of the training is to get all service assistants up to speed so as a team, we are able to provide better services to the public.”

Qatar Charity will train 20 of the organisers and five of them will work in each stadium. 

Mohammed Al Ghamdi, Excecutive Director of local adminstration of Qatar Charity said that students who could not finish their university studies due to funding difficulties, and families who have financial problems.will benefit from the programme.

Meanwhile, football giants Lekhwiya were drawn to play Al Gharafa in the opener for the two sides in the 2012-13 Qatar Stars Cup.  Al Sadd will take on Qatar SC while Eljaish battle Al Arabi. 

In other matches, Al Wakra - last season’s champions - will play Al Khor while Al Rayyan get set to host Al Sailiyah. 

The draws were held in the presence of Abdulrahnman Al Dossari, Chief Commercial Officer, QSL. 

Other officials included Salem Al Nuami, Assistant Director-General, PR, and QNB representatives.
