ST LOUIS, Missouri: Al-Anabi gold driver Khalid alBalooshi advanced to the quarter-finals in the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals for the sixth time in as many races.
It is a good result for the Qatar Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel Team, the two-time, defending NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel World Championship team, who are owned by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani, who continues to improve all around as the 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing season begins to wind down.
AlBalooshi, the No. 7 qualifier, defeated former Al-Anabi driver Larry Dixon to advance to his sixth consecutive quarterfinal appearance.
“Our team had a very good weekend until we lost in the second round,” alBalooshi said.
“We are doing better and better, but we still do not have our race day luck. I hope that very soon we can reach a semifinal, but today was not our day. I thank Sheikh Khalid for this opportunity, and I thank everyone on our crew for his hard work,” added AlBalooshi.
Meanwhile, Langdon was the No. 6 qualifier in his silver Al-Anabi dragster. He set the low elapsed time of the first round of eliminations when he defeated Morgan Lucas.
Langdon remains fourth in the standings. THE PENINSULA
