The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has intensified an awareness campaign on COVID-19 preventive measures.
The Ministry has urged the public to get tested for COVID-19 as soon as symptoms are presented and to follow proper preventive measures.
The MoPH with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) have started a social media campaign urging public to play their part in the ongoing fight against COVID-19 in the country.
“All members of the community can play their part in the ongoing fight against COVID-19 through three main actions: getting vaccinated, including having the booster vaccine when you are eligible; getting tested quickly if you experience signs and symptoms of COVID-19; and adhering to the precautionary measures including wearing of masks and social distancing and regular hand washing,” said the Ministry.
The Ministry yesterday reported 946 new COVID-19 cases, and among them 835 from the community and 111 were travellers coming from abroad. At present 7,024 active COVID-19 cases are in the country.
Total of 7,323,161 vaccine doses were administered to date and among those 1,827,792 were booster doses.
While, according to the weekly COVID-19 report issued by the Ministry on Monday, 762 daily average cases were among community and 121 were among travellers. And an average of average of 1018 people have recovered within a week. One death was reported due to COVID-19 in a week.
Some 25 people were admitted to hospital due to COVID-19 but no one was admitted to the ICU. An average of 21,523 COVID-19 tests wwere conducted within the week. A daily average 2,760 COVID-19 vaccines were administered.
Since the start of the pandemic, Qatar has imposed COVID-19 precautionary measures based on indicators including number of hospitalisations, ICU admissions, and deaths due to the virus.
With the number of new daily COVID-19 cases in Qatar rising on July 6, the Cabinet issued a decision making face masks mandatory for all individuals aged six years and above in closed public spaces.
This includes healthcare facilities, workplace, public transport, mosques, gyms, malls, shops, and cinemas in addition to other closed public places.
In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health called on community members to play their role to curb the spread of COVID-19 virus in the country and adhere to new preventive measures and get vaccinated when eligible.
It said that face masks, when worn properly by everyone, are an effective tool to prevent virus transmission.
