Ministry of Education announces SSC exam results

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced yesterday the results of the first round of examinations of the general and specialised Secondary School Certificate for the academic year 2018-19.

The announcement was made after the Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi endorsed results. The results were posted on official website of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education under a link https://nateeja.edu.gov.qa/. 

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Assistant Undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs at the Ministry Khalid Al Harqan said that the percentage of those who passed in day schools reached 82.9 percent and 32.42 percent in adult education. He said that the passing rate of Religious Institute Preparatory Secondary School for Boys was 78.18 percent, and 79.39 percent at Qatar Secondary Technical School for Boys, and 92.96 percent at Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration School. 

Al Harqan added that the results, despite the remarks on the difficulty of some tests in some subjects, is an improvement on previous years, this can be attributed to the high level of achievement of students, which in turn increased the success rate, in addition to the efforts of the Ministry and its departments. He said that the distribution of marks by allocating 40 percent for the first semester and 60 percent for the second semester also helped to compensate for some students with deficiencies in certain subjects, indicating that the percentage obtained by students in the second semester came better than the first one, pointing out that there is a great convergence in the success rates in some subjects, and that the results in overall better than the previous academic year.

He said that a total of 5,859 students obtained 70 percent marks and above, including 2,570 Qatari male and female students, pointing out that the students who secured 70 percent and above marks accounted 4,668, last year said Al Harqan.

This year, the number of the students obtained 90 percent marks and above reached 1,960 including 464 Qatari students, while Laila Yasser Ali Abdul Wahab Al Mansi from Al Kawthar Secondary School for girls and Roaa Bassam Ahmad Mohammed Ali from Al Wakra Secondary School for girls topped the examination of the secondary certificate with 100 percent.

He added that a total of 1,567 students will appear in the second round of the examination. Assistant undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs affirmed that the Ministry’s objective is to raise the level of student achievement and improve the outputs in terms of the quality and efficiency of high school graduates to compete in the entry of the finest universities and to be an important contributor to advancing the development process in the country.

Al Harqan reviewed the series of tests controls and discipline of students in exam halls, as well as the accuracy of the process of correction and review papers to ensure the validity of the results.

He said that a total of 11,329 students of which 5788 male students and 5541 female students from government schools appeared in the final examination of secondary certificate this year from June 10 to June 23, under a total of 61 examination halls; 32 for boys and 29 for girls.

The second round of examinations for the academic year 2018/2019 for all grades, from grade 1- 12 will be held from July 21 to 29, 2019.
