Your feet in the fine sand, your eyes fixed on a massive screen! Join the Doha Film Institute for a fun, family-friendly movie experience on lovely West Bay Beach! 'Cinema by the Sea' is an outdoor film series that the entire community can enjoy, set along the shores of Doha's breathtaking skyline.
On May 4, instead of one movie, audiences get to enjoy ‘Made in Qatar: Short Films Programme,’ where five locally-made films including Emsahar by Hassan Al-Jahni, Hope by Abdulla Al-Janahi, Yahoota by Latifa Al-Darwish and Abdulaziz Yousif, Khurshid by Mazen Shafea, and Al-Johara by Nora Al-Subai, will be shown.
Note: A QR30 beach access ticket is required, which can be paid upon arriving at the venue. Children under 12 years can enter for free.

With the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla coming up, Qatar is not about to miss out on celebrating the special occasion! On May 4, The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra will present a variety of classical and contemporary works at the Qatar National Convention Center, including Handel's Royal Fireworks Music, Walton's Orb & Sceptre, and William's Fantasia on Greensleeves. 2023 marks the 65th Anniversary of the Smurfs! To celebrate their smurf-tastic anniversary, the Belgian Embassy in Doha is organising an exhibition in collaboration with Katara. The exhibition features original artwork that shows the evolution of the Smurfs from their comic origins to their success in movies, TV shows, and video games. Learn more about the iconic lovable characters as the exhibition includes illustrations of the Smurfs’ origins from 65 years ago.
'Olafur Eliasson: The Curious Desert' Exhibition

The Curious Desert is the first solo exhibition of Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson in the Gulf region, taking place in two venues.
The outdoor installations at Sabkha Habitat near the Al Thakira Mangrove Reserve include twelve pavilions that use natural phenomena such as wind, water, and sunlight to create a mesmerising effect.
The indoor exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar is an extensive presentation of works from throughout Eliasson’s career. It showcases photo series from Iceland, expansive light installations, complex geometric studies, optical devices, and more.
Note: A free shuttle bus to the outdoor location will be offered once a week. The bus will depart from the National Museum of Qatar on Saturdays at 9am and return to the Museum around noon. Bus capacity is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

'Texture of Pins' Exhibition

Inaugurated by the talented Kuwaiti artist, Maisam Qassem, the ‘Texture of Pins’ exhibition showcases over 30 paintings that highlight her experiences. Qassem's enthusiasm led her to create a group of creatives who practice their artistic hobbies using pins and vibrant threads to produce pictures and paintings with superior aesthetic dimensions.
The artists were successful in creating the largest woodwork in the world, measuring 218 square meters and using about 14,000 pins and 30,000 meters of thread. The name of the exhibition was inspired by this woodwork.
