Riyadh: GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi has decried an Israeli occupation minister's storming of Al Aqsa Mosque as a flagrant violation of Islamic sanctities.
Al Budaiwi said that Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's storming of Islam's third holiest site, along with extremist colonists, is and an indication of the occupation forces' schemes to continue destabilizing security and stability in the Palestinian territories.
He dismissed such repeated moves as a grave violation of international law and the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites.
They are a clear and blatant violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a provocation of Muslim sentiments, and an exacerbation of tensions in the region, pushing the situation into a spiral of ongoing violence, he said.
