Doha Festival City (DFC), the well-known shopping, dining, and entertainment mall in Qatar has recorded great performance so far in 2023 according to a senior official of the Mall.
Speaking to The Peninsula on the company’s performance in terms of the visitor numbers in the current year and plans for the future DFC General Manager Robert Hall (pictured) said DFC’s performance was driven by the activations at the beginning of the year led by the Qatar Balloon Festival and the National Sports Day and other activities and initiatives, including the highly successful Flu Vaccination Campaign launched in partnership with the Hamad Medical Corporation, which saw thousands of visitors come forward and receive the vaccine to protect themselves against the seasonal illness.
“We will continue announcing events and activations to maintain this amazing momentum and enhance our value offering to Qatar’s community,”’ Hall said.
Elaborating on the success of the FIFA World Cup 2022 season at the Mall, Hall said the month-long ‘World Let’s Meet’ activation enjoyed stunning success during the football season, attracting the highest number of local and international crowds to celebrate and share the football fever through a robust and exciting event program that was crowned with Qatar National Day celebrations.
The event attracted over 50,000 attendees who watched the 64 matches aired at The Arena live on huge screens. Thousands more were attracted to the wide array of football shows and activations inside and outside our mall, including the live football performer and juggler shows and children’s entertainment options including art and crafts, as well as our live competitions, Hall said adding that the DFC was amazed by the enthusiasm received as it shared everyone’s excitement. It was an unforgettable event and a historic time, both for Doha Festival City and for the State of Qatar.
On new plans in the pipeline this year to attract more visitors he said with the year jet young we have multiple events and activations lined up to attract shoppers and visitors and offer them unrivaled experiences and memorable moments, including upcoming plans for special Ramadan and Eid activations.
“We were highly pleased with the success of the Homeware Festival Finale on March 18 where Shop Qatar’s much awaited Grand Prize raffle draw the lucky winner of a QR2m Pearl studio was revealed amongst other prizes announced.
Speaking on the Homeware festival he said every homeware festival is different but what sets this one apart from the past year is the wide exposure of all the retail participants in in-mall advertisements as well as on other media platforms, and of course, bringing out the creativity of our visitors in line with the festival’s theme “Unleash the Inner Designer In You”. The relevance of each display is what really stands out for this year’s edition.
Doha Festival City became an inspirational furniture destination for the majority of people and for the top interior design firms. The number of participants and product choices has increased, providing customers with a variety of furnishing and decoration options. However, all those choices are becoming very streamlined, modern, and focused on comfort. In previous years, they were more formal and more dedicated to impressing visitors. This year’s display of items communicates to the homeowners that their family’s comfort is the top priority, and the style of the furniture and home accessories that we see has a connection to nature.
More options for outdoor furniture have become available, as a lot of people, especially after Covid-19, prefer to be closer to nature, to take advantage of the good weather, to spend more time in the garden, especially now and during Ramadan.
Elaborating on homeware trends Hall said as people’s understanding of how human activity affects the environment has grown, there has been an increase in demand for eco-friendly and sustainable home goods. Products composed of natural and organic materials like bamboo, cork, and recycled plastic are becoming more and more popular with consumers. We have recently introduced the true earth collection that promotes eco-living. Check out our stores and our website.
He said currently, the Homecentre is running a 20 percent-50 percent sale on furniture and home accessories until March 24 along with the launch of our Ramadan collections. We are also offering interior design services for those who are looking for expert assistance.
