Top swimmers from around the world will vie for honour at the World Swimming Championships, starting from tomorrow at the Hamad Aquatic Center.

Doha: Tickets are selling fast as swimming fans are sweeping up the last remaining seats at this year’s ultimate swimming finale, the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m).
With the mega event starting tomorrow, the city will see 1,100 of the world’s best athletes from 171 countries descend upon Hamad Aquatic Center.
It will be guaranteed action on all five days of the competition as fans can expect to see their swimming heroes take to the water for a chance at World Championship glory. The championship has something for everyone.
Just last week the championships revealed details of the Market Street Fan Zone which will be located just outside Hamad Aquatic Center.
Open to the public and free for all, fans will experience an abundance of entertainment for all ages including stage performances, appearances from Bahoor the official mascot, auto-graph sessions with competing swimmers and even camel rides around the Aquatic Center.
Inside the swimming arena, spectators will be treated to the high octane races from world champions, record holders and Olympians including US Olympic Gold Medalist Ryan Lochte, South Africa’s golden boy, Chad Le Clos and multiple World Record holder, Katinka Hosszu of Hungary.
Roland Schoeman (RSA), Daniel Gyurta (HUN), Mireia Belmonte (ESP), and other top athletes from Germany, Italy, Russia, China, Japan and the Netherlands will also be bringing their best to Doha.
Speaking of the crowds expected to attend the five days of competition, Khalil Al Jaber, President of Qatar Swimming Association and CEO of Doha 2014, commented:
“Tickets sales for this year’s FINA World Swimming Championships have confirmed what we already knew - this is a must-see event on the sporting calendar,” he said.
“We have spectators flying in from all over the world to witness the excitement as athletes push themselves to the limit with hopes of world records and world champion titles.”
Doha is also hosting the first ever Youth Programme around the World Championships, a five day event where 350 elite young swimmers will be given the opportunity to experience the FINA World Swimming Championships first hand, gaining exposure to major international events and familiarise themselves with competition week format.
Organised by Qatar Olympic Committee and FINA, the Youth Programme will bring together the swimmers of tomorrow with the talent and coaches of today.
FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) category A tickets start from QR20 for the morning heats and QR40 for the evening finals.
Category B starts at QR10 for the morning heats and QR20 for the finals.
Doors will open at 8:00am each morning of the event and every evening at 16.30pm allowing fans to enjoy the new interactive fan zone and settle in before the dynamic races get under way.
