Doha: Qatar's Mohamed Mahmoud in action during heat 3 of the men's 50m freestyle event at the first leg of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2021 in Berlin, Germany, yesterday. Competing in lane 3, the 17-year-old swimmer clocked his first sub-23 second finish (22.90 secs) in the 50m freestyle, and was placed second in his heat behind Kuwait’s Waleed Abdulrazzaq.
However, Mahmoud failed to advance to the final which was eventually won by former World Championship silver medallist Ben Schwietert of The Netherlands.
