Doha: Al Sadd will miss the services of their influential Algerian forward Jugurtha Hamroun when they take on Al Khor in the quarter-finals of the Emir Cup tomorrow.

The 29-year old has been ruled out of the upcoming match against Al Khor after picking up a ligament injury while training on Monday, the club said on their official website yesterday.

It further added that he is now scheduled to undergo a medical examination which will determine the extent of the injury and his absence from the team.

Coach Jesualdo Ferreira’s team will also miss the services of Barca legend Xavi Hernandez  and in-form Baghdad Bounedjah for tomorrow’s game having being suspended following the Qatar Cup final against Al Duhail.

Feared forward Bounedjah - who scored 16 goals during the QSL this season, is also  the top scorer of the AFC Champions League so far.

Al Sadd SC players took part in a training session yesterday, ahead of their all-important clash and the coaching staff used the session to work on selecting their options for the starting lineup, in light of the injury and suspension blows.

Al Sadd finished second in the QNB Stars League to gain direct entry to the quarter-final stage of Emir Cup. They also  lost  to Al Duhail in the final of the Qatar Cup last Friday.

Al Khor registered a 10-9 sudden death win over Al Markhiya to advance into the quarter-finals at the Abdulla Bin Khalifa Stadium on Saturday.
