Spain's Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan celebrate their victory.
Doha: World No.1 Juan Lebron and Alejandro Galan yesterday booked a title clash with second seeded Francisco Navarro and Martín Di Nenno in the inaugural Premier Padel Tour Ooredoo Qatar Major in Doha.
The top seeds, Lebron and Galan of Spain, overcame Argentina's Federico Chingotto and Juan Tello 6-4, 6-3 in 72 minutes at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
Lebron and Galan reached yesterday's semis after defeating Argentina’s Fernando Belasteguin and his Spanish partner Arturo Coello with a straight-set (6-3, 7-5) win.
Francisco Navarro and Martín Di Nenno celebrate.
"Well, the truth is that strategically I think we played a great game, just like yesterday," Lebron said during the on court interview after the win.
"And well, paddle tennis is like that. It has a bit of everything in mental, physical and technical strategy. So we always have to adapt our game very well because the rivals are very tough," he said.
On the other hand, the Spanish Argentinian duo, Navarro and Di Nenno, the second-best pair in the world, reached the title clash without trouble.
They completed their semi-final in 65 minutes to eliminate the third seeds Alejandro Ruiz of Spain and Franco Stupaczuk of Argentina with a score line of 6-2, 6-3 and make the final of the brand new $575,000 tournament.
Navarro and Di Nenno booked their place in the Doha semis after beating Javier Rico and Jer onimo Gonzalez, the ninth seeds in an hour-long encounter with a 6-1, 6-3 score-line.
Today's blockbuster final will kick off at 8:30pm at the centre court of the state-of-the-art sports complex at the heart of Doha.
The opening event of the Premier Pader Tour, governed by the International Padel Federation and backed by the Professional Players Association (PPA) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), and organised by the Qatar Tennis and Squash Federation, is the first category 1 event of the new tour.
