Doha: Nasser Ali Al Hemaidi displayed an ice cool temperament to clinch the top place in the Trap event of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association Heir Apparent Cup at Losail Shooting Range here yesterday.
The 29-year-old warded off a tough challenge from Rashid Taleb Al Athba beating his opponent 12-10 in a closely contested final.
“It is a good preparations for the upcoming Qatar Open,” Al Hemaidi said about his win.
“I concentrated on what I was doing and not looking at the scores. It was tough fight and it was a touch and go and I am happy to win it,” added a jubiliant Al Hemaidi.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Roumihi edged Masoud Hamad Al Athba 9-6 to win the bronze medal in the event.
In the women’s section, Koloud Hassan Al Kalaf won the Trap event, while Amna Mosaaid Al Abdullah had to settle for the silver medal. Nora Eisa Al Ali won the bronze medal defeating Bana Ali Haji. In the men’s junior event, Anglo Roberto Scalzone bagged the top position followed by Abdullah Salem Mashaab and Sultan Ganim Al Niaami.
