Auction for Aleppo evokes huge response

A charity auction at Katara Cultural Village yesterday to support Syrians in Aleppo evoked tremendous response from the public and philanthropists in Qatar.
Classic cars, fancy car number plates, motorcycles, jewelries, watches and paintings that were collected during a fundraising event at Darb El Saai on the National Day were offered at the auction. A huge crowd including women and children witnessed the event as it progressed at the Dar Al Bahi Auction house at Katatar starting at 7.15pm.
In the first 15 minutes, seven to eight cars were sold fetching a total amount of over QR700,000. The first car put on auction- a Mercedez Benz- was sold at QR115,000 with the auction prize starting from QR50,000.
A 2016 model Lexus vehicle fetched the highest price of QR325,000. A total of over QR1.5 m was offered for more than 20 cars, old and new. Four motorcycles were also auctioned. The auction of cars were followed by that of special number plates, jewelries, watches and other precious items.
