Turkey’s Yasar retains Qatar Optimist Cup title

Doha: Defending champion Rasim Yasar of Turkey came up with yet  another superlative performance to retain the Qatar Optimist Cup title while Qatar-1 won the third place in the Team Racing event. 
Yesterday at Katara Beach, the Turk, who had a comfortable ten point lead over second placed Florine Bramervaer of Netherlands, finished the 12-race series with 11 nett points.
Bramervaer, finished second with 23, ahead of another female competitor Okyanua Arikan of Turkey, who came third with a score of 32.
Jann Schupbach of Switzerland finished fourth (44), while Qatar’s Ghanim Al Sewaidi had to settle for the fifth place. Sailors from 11 countries took part in the event. 
Meanwhile in the Team Racing event, Qatar-1 finished third, behind second placed Turkey and winners Mix team, consisting of sailors from Bulgaria, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland.
Six teams took part Team Racing which was held under the Round Robin format for the Qatar Optimist Cup Team Racing Trophy. 
Qatar-2 finished fourth followed by Denmark and China.
