QNA

Doha: Qatar Seismic Network confirmed that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale took place at 10:02 Qatar time, South of the Arabian Sea.

The network said that the area has been seeing a noticeable increase in seismic activity since last August, adding that these earthquakes take place as a result of tectonic shifts between the Arabian, African, and Indian plates.

The network said that citizens and residents need not be alarmed by such earthquake as they do not pose any danger to the State of Qatar.
