With over 400 Bollywood actors, filmmakers, celebrities, and influencers, Indians were the rage this year at Festival De Cannes or famously known Cannes Film Festival. India was the first 'Country of Honour' at the Marche du Cinema, the business segment of the marquee festival.
Here is a list of celebrities who walked the red carpet, some as jury; a few as debutants while others upped the glam quotient.
Deepika Padukone
This year Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone made her debut as one of the Jury members as well as made her presence on the red carpet draped in a glittery sari by Sabyasachi inspired by the Bengal tiger.
Also French brand Louis Vuitton announced Deepika as the first Indian ambassador with their latest new handbag campaign.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who has been a regular, this year was present too with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan. She attended the screening of Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ wearing a custom Dolce & Gabbana black gown with 3D flowers flowing.
She slayed her second red carpet look with a sculpted glass gown by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta which was inspired by the birth of Venus, the goddess of beauty and love said the designer on his Instagram post.
She first attended Cannes in 2002, as a global ambassador for beauty brand L'Oreal.
Aditi Rao Hydari
One of the debutants this year at Cannes was Aditi Rao Hydari. Hydari posted her looks on her social media account with the caption, "The moment I've been waiting for." On the first day, she wore an embroidered ivory organza sari, paired with an emerald and diamond choker all by Sabyasachi.
Pooja Hegde
Looking gorgeous in a feathery pink gown was debutant Pooja Hedge, who also attended the screening of Tom Cruise's Topgun–Maverick. She shared a moment on her Instagram with the caption, "The iconic red carpet stairs at the Cannes Film Festival. What a rush this was."
Hina Khan
Marking her second appearance, Hina Khan made everyone's head turn with her stunning looks at the Cannes film festival. Hina was there to release the poster of her upcoming film "Country of Blind" which was launched at the Indian Pavillion of the festival.
Bollywood actresses Tamannaah Bhatia and Urvashi Rautela also made their Cannes debut this year. Urvashi chose a white ruffled gown for the premiere of the film, ‘Final Cut’ whereas Tamannah went for a black and white satin gown with an elaborate trail that elevated the look.
TV actress Helly Shah shared pictures from her Cannes debut. She posted photos on her Instagram account with the caption, "Thankful and Grateful Debut at Cannes couldn't have been a better one ... Thank you @lorealparis for making it the PERFECT".
Other celebrities who attended the film festival include South Indian actor-politician Kamal Hassan, AR Rehman, Film maker Shekhar Kapur, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, actor R Madhavan, and businesswoman Natasha Poonawalla, influencers including Rahi Chadda, Masoom Minawala, and Diipa Khosla.
