In a bid to strengthen their mutual cooperation and long-standing business relations, senior management officials of Lulu Hypermarket Qatar and Dar Al Sharq had a meeting last week at Dar Al Sharq office.
During the discussions, Shaijan M O, Regional Director of Lulu Hypermarkets in Qatar, commented on the expansion plans and stated that they have a plan to commission five new outlets this year bringing the total number of stores to 19. He said that this comes under their plan to reach out to all possible areas across the country.
Shaijan also welcomed the government’s decision to reopen Visa Centres in major countries that export manpower at a time when the local market needs workers.
Speaking to The Peninsula during his visit to Dar Al Sharq Group, he said: “Currently we have 14 stores, and five more will be opened this year, and by the year 2022 we will have 22 stores in total.”
In response to a question about the impact of the pandemic on Lulu Hypermarkets Qatar, he said that the pandemic has negatively affected the public and the economy as a whole, and we have been affected by it like all other sectors. “The pro-active measures taken by the government to check the pandemic and to make the economy resilient are commendable,” he added.
Regarding Lulu’s efforts to fight coronavirus, the Regional Director stated: “We have implemented all the COVID-19 protocols and precautionary measures recommended by the Ministry of Public Health.”
Commenting on his visit to Dar Al Sharq Group, Shaijan said: “We at Lulu Hypermarkets are grateful for the excellent cooperation and long-standing business association extended by Dar Al Sharq, and aspire to have more support in the journey ahead.”
Shaijan praised the media role and strong presence of Dar Al Sharq Group in the country, and its coverage of various activities organised by Lulu Hypermarkets, hoping that the cooperation between the two sides would continue.
He also commended the Dar Al Sharq Group’s ongoing efforts regarding awareness of social responsibility, adding that Lulu is ready to provide support in this aspect.
For his part, Jaber Al Harami, Deputy CEO of Dar Al Sharq Group, welcomed the visit of Shaijan MO, Regional Director of Lulu Hypermarkets Qatar, which comes within the framework of cooperation between Lulu Hypermarkets and Dar Al Sharq Group, to review aspects of the existing cooperation between them and the available possibilities for their further development.
“We hope that the cooperation and partnership with Lulu Hypermarkets will continue and we will develop this relationship for the better,” said Al Harami, adding that Dar Al Sharq, with its various media outlets, newspapers and social platforms, covers the various activities organised by Lulu.
On the occasion of his visit, Deputy CEO of Dar Al Sharq presented an honorary shield to Shaijan in appreciation of Lulu’s support for its various activities, especially in the context of the upcoming 8th Social Responsibility Conference, which will be held on April 6, 2021, and the distribution of the Social Responsibility Award, which is dedicated this year to honor government figures, private institutions and individuals who had a prominent role in fighting coronavirus pandemic during the year 2020.
The date of the conference was set during a meeting held by the Social Responsibility Committee of Dar Al Sharq, which includes a number of prominent personalities in the field, as the Social Responsibility Committee set specific criteria for selecting people and institutions that worked during pandemic to honour them during a ceremony hosted by Katara.
