Doha: For all the feline lovers in Qatar, a community cat show is being organised at The Pearl Qatar this weekend.
Dedicated to cat lovers, Whiskers & Purrs Community Cat Show is open to anyone who owns or has fostered any cat and for those who don’t own one, borrowing from one of the shelters in town is also an option. As long as the cat is micro-chipped, fully vaccinated and neutered/spayed, participation is not an issue.
Organised in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and UDC, the event is taking place at The Tennis Court in The Pearl Qatar at 1pm on Saturday, March 7.
The cat show is divided into 12 classes out of which each cat can participate in any three or four categories. The categories are: prettiest lady, most handsome, cutest face, scruffiest cat, cat you most want to take home, bushiest tail, timeless veteran (cats over 10 years old), pretty young thing (kittens between 4 – 12 months), best trash to treasure (rescued cats now adopted), the future is bright (rescued cats looking for adoption), Doha’s most special (domestic short haired cats), purrfectly imperfect (differently-abled cats such as blind, paralyzed, deaf, tripod) which will be judged by the visitors and the winner will get the title of “Top Cat”.
With competition such as best decorated cat cave, participants are encouraged to get as over-the-top as possible to dressing up the cat's display crate to be winners.
For those who are not a cat person, there is a best-dressed kiddy cat competition for the under 16s where youngsters have a chance to wear a fancy cat costume and win a prize.
Browse the "Meow-ket" stalls where sponsors will be offering special deals on their signature products. Or take a stroll, admire the range of beautiful cats on display and vote for your favourite cat to win!
