Cold weather with scattered clouds tonight; 14.1mm average rainfall in Feb: QMD

Doha: Weather inshore until 6 am on Sunday will be cold with scattered clouds and chance of light rain at places, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report.

Offshore, will be partly cloudy at times the report added.

Wind inshore will be southeasterly 03-13 kt , turns to northwesterly later.

Offshore, it will be Southeasterly - Southwesterly 03-12 kt, gusting 15 kt at times.

“Light rain continues to be observed in the north of the country,” Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) said on social media.

QMD said that historically the month of February receives the highest rainfall during winter. 

“The last month of winter and climatically the second coldest month of the year after January. Unstable weather at the leading edge of the frontal systems which cause thunderstorm activity, mostly during night. The climate records show that the average rainfall is 14.1mm (1962-2019) and it is the highest month in winter,” QMD added. 

Daily mean temperature for February is 18.6 degree Celsius and lowest recorded temperature historically is 5 degree Celsius in 1967 and the highest of 36.5 degree Celsius was recorded in 2002.
