Doha: The second edition of the Doha 3x3 Basketball Tournament concluded yesterday, marking another successful chapter in Qatar’s basketball scene.
Organized by FAME Sports Academy, in collaboration with Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the tournament took place from March 7 to 13, under the direct supervision of QBF.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from teams across various age groups, providing a unique platform for identifying and nurturing young basketball talent.
During the closing ceremony, Mohammed bin Saad Al Mughaiseeb, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF), was honoured in recognition of his unwavering support and active role in overseeing the tournament’s organisation.
His dedication to the promotion and development of basketball in Qatar, particularly at the youth level, was widely acknowledged.
Additionally, Engineer Ahmed Hamouda, General Manager of FAME Sports Academy, also honoured the tournament’s key sponsors, including Al Rayyan Water Company, Juniors Company, Qatar University, and Georgetown University. Their contributions played a crucial role in the tournament’s success and in strengthening Qatar’s reputation as a growing hub for sports development.
The tournament saw intense competition across various divisions, with teams displaying impressive performances that highlighted the growing popularity of basketball in Qatar.

Speaking about the event, the QBF President Al Mughaiseeb, said, “This tournament is a great platform for discovering and developing young talent, and the participating teams demonstrated a high level of professionalism and competitiveness.”
FAME Sports Academy General Manager Hamouda expressed gratitude, saying: “I would like to thank the Qatar Basketball Association officials for giving us the opportunity to participate in organizing this distinguished tournament. It was a wonderful opportunity to provide a platform for our young athletes and to promote basketball in Qatar.”
