DOHA: An unexpectedly chilly evening yesterday sent many scurrying to prepare for winter.
Winter clothing was out as most people were seen wearing jackets, woollens and scarves.
At home, people took out blankets and quilts, and some, even room heaters.
High winds moving from the northwest, the freezing areas of Europe, made the chill stronger.
Later at night, not many people were seen out in the streets.
However, no camp fires were seen in remote areas, where such weather usually tempts people to do so.
The weather bureau has forecast that chilly and windy conditions will continue today. High winds will kick up dust at places.
Day temperatures are forecast to dip further to between 16 and 19 degrees Celsius.
The night will be colder with the mercury dropping further to 14 degrees Celsius in Doha and 11 degrees in Abu Samra.
Day temperature here will be 16 degrees Celsius.
In Al Wakrah and Mesaieed, the night temperature forecast is 12 degrees Celsius, while daytime mercury levels will be 18
degrees.
The wind speed forecast is between 15 and 35 knots inland and 20 to 35 knots offshore, where conditions will be cloudy and dusty.
