The school staff and students will get COVID-19 booster shots at health centres without prior appointment.
The decision aims at enhancing vaccination drive to ensure a smooth education process in the country amid increasing cases of coronavirus.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education issued a circular yesterday notifying that the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine of Pfizer and Moderna will be provided to all eligible academic and administrative staff and students in public and private schools without prior appointment in all health centres.
“We kindly ask you to inform school staff and students (12-year-old and above) to take the booster dose vaccine by going to any health centre without a prior appointment, as soon as they are eligible to receive it,” the Ministry said in the circular sent to schools.
“This is important in providing a safe school environment for our students, and in coordination with Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) to combat the spread of the coronavirus,” it added.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Mohamad Al Bishri, said that many circulars have been issued to schools notifying them to ensure strict implementation of all COVID-19 protocols and preventive measures approved by the Ministry in the past.

“I would like assure students, parents and people in Qatar that there will be no negligence in implementing the preventive measures in schools to protect students, academic and administrative staff from the pandemic,” said Al Bishri.
He said that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is following the health indicators which show the rate of infection of COVID-19 pandemic and cases in the community and health condition.
