Roads and Infrastructure development project begins at Abu Sidra and Fereej Al Manaseer

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the commencement of works of the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Abu Sidra and Fereej Al Manaseer areas. The project aims to develop roads and internal streets in the area with added traffic safety, besides developing infrastructure facilities on par with the requirements of the population growth and anticipated urban development.

Eng. Fahad Mohammad Al Otaibi, Head of Western Area Projects at Ashghal's Roads Projects Department, stated that on completion, the project will serve 817 citizens’ plots in Abu Sidra and Fereej Al Manaseer areas, as the project will provide advanced infrastructure services such as sewage networks, roads, internal streets, and pedestrian paths that will enhance the flow of traffic besides providing connectivity with public utilities.

Al Otaibi explained that the project will also include construction of a service road along Al Furousiya Street from Al Manaseer Intersection to Industrial Area Bridge to serve the existing shops in the area.

The project will develop a 40-km long road network along with provision of traffic safety elements such as street lighting systems and poles, directional signs and road signage, 5972 parking lots, and 65 km of shared paths for pedestrians and cyclists.

Infrastructure works within the project include construction of 11.8 km of sewage network, 29.5 km of surface and groundwater drainage network, 24.4km of treated water network and 5.6 km potable water network, in addition to extension of new drainage pipes linking to the main drainage network.

The project is located west of Al Furousiya Street in Al Rayyan Zone and east of Tuwar Al Heraithi Street. It also borders with Salah El Din Street to the South and Al Sailiya Road to the North. The project work is divided into three geographical areas to be worked in phases, and the implementation of each phase takes one year, as it is planned that the complete delivery of this project will be in the Q4, 2024.

Al Jaber Engineering Company is implementing this project with approximate cost amounting to QR 612 million.
