Global tourists are taking home with them stories of a sweet-to-the-power-of-two food craze, the Blizzard, which combines sugar-sprinkled pastry with vanilla ice-cream.
The epicentre of this new craze is the Charles Bridge in the heart of the Czech capital Prague, where hawkers sell it to vacationers. Photos of it are being widely posted on social media.
It's based on trdelnik, a sweet pastry known to generations of Czechs. The pastry is made from rolled dough wrapped around a stick before being grilled and sprinkled with sugar crystals and cinnamon.
The new part: fill it with vanilla ice-cream or creemee soft ice-cream. It can then be held in the hand and eaten like an ice-cream cone. The Blizzard version has its fans, but also its detractors.
"It's neither traditional nor Czech," said one critic online. "It costs so much, only tourists will buy it," said another.
To sample an ice-cream trdelnik you will need to pay about 5 dollars for one at the Charles Bridge. They don't do mail order.
