Doha, Qatar: Thunder rain associated with strong wind and poor visibility is expected starting today, April 15, 2024, warned Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD).
The weather will be cloudy with a chance of moderate to heavy rains accompanied by thunder and strong wind from today until the beginning of Wednesday, April 17, 2024. During this period, the wind with gusts exceeding 50KT could also be accompanied by hail.

The sea state at such time will be rough with waves ranging between 10-12ft rising to 16ft at times.
The Meteorology Department called on everyone to be cautious and follow thunderstorm safety guidelines. It further stressed the importance of receiving information from official sources only.
In its latest update, QMD has announced the commencement of "Najm Al-Mu'akhar," also known as the first arm, starting on April 16, 2024. This period will last for 13 days.
During this time, the weather tends to be moderate at night while becoming hot during the noon.
It coincides with the Sarrayat season, which is characterized by continued chances of thunderstorms that may bring occasional hail along with active winds carrying dust and dirt.
This period is noted for its shifting weather patterns, which are crucial for agriculture and outdoor activities.
