DOHA: Qatar Airways (QA) sponsored a charity event organised by Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah for Humanitarian services (RAF) in Amman.
The sponsorship was part of corporate social responsibilities initiatives the airline supports.
A QA delegation, including Samira Fakhri, Salam Al Shawa, Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Corporate Communications; and Nabeela Fakhri, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources, met a group of 400 orphan children and shared a day of festivities followed by giveaways and gifts from QA and RAF. Al Shawa said: “Corporate social responsibility is a priority for QA. As a global airline, we aim to support local communities in health, sport and education in addition to being an active member in the communities we operate in.”
Dr Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani, Chairman, Board of Trustees, and General Director, RAF Foundation, said: “We appreciate QA’s support to RAF humanitarian programmes, and are happy to continue our partnership with it to help and support creating opportunities for orphans and develop our charitable initiatives for a better future.”
The delegation also visited King Hussein Cancer Centre and met its Deputy Director-General Dr Hikmat Abdel Razeq.
Delegates toured the centre and its facilities followed by a presentation on the centre’s services as one of the best comprehensive centres in the Middle East.
The delegation distributed gifts and giveaways to young patients.
As one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, QA has experienced rapid growth in 18 years of operation and flies a modern fleet of 173 aircraft to over 150 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.
